Sifu Kendra Mahon, known as Kung Fu Kendra, was inspired to create the world's first fully online Wing Chun certification course based on her own challenging journey in martial arts. Having spent 20 years studying Wing Chun, attending classes five days a week, and investing over $225,000 in training fees, she recognized the need for a more accessible and efficient way to learn this martial art.

As a third-generation master in the Ip Man lineage, Sifu Kendra understood the value of traditional Wing Chun training but also saw the potential in leveraging modern technology to make it available to a wider audience. Her experience highlighted the uncertainty many practitioners face about when or if they could become a Sifu, which motivated her to develop a structured program that could guide students from beginner to instructor level.

The online format of the course is a full curriculum program and was designed to address common barriers to learning Wing Chun, such as the need for a practice partner, rigid class schedules, and geographical limitations. By creating pre-recorded video modules and written materials, Sifu Kendra enabled students to learn at their own pace and review content as needed, making the learning process more flexible and personalized.

Sifu Kendra's inspiration also came from her desire to preserve and share the knowledge of the Ip Man lineage. As a student of Sifu Brian Lewadny, who learned from William Cheung (a training partner of Bruce Lee), she felt a responsibility to pass on this valuable martial arts tradition in a format accessible to modern learners.

The course's structure, which includes 10 Certification Levels with multiple training modules and assessments, reflects Sifu Kendra's vision of providing a comprehensive Wing Chun education that can lead to Sifu certification. By incorporating video submissions and written exams for each level, she ensured that students could demonstrate their progress and receive recognition for their achievements, ultimately working towards becoming

Level 1 of the course focuses on the foundations of Wing Chun, introducing students to essential warm-up exercises, stances, and footwork techniques. Students learn key hand techniques such as Tan Sao and Pak Sao, along with numeric punches and the first section of the Siu Lim Tao form. This foundational level sets the stage for more advanced training in subsequent modules.

As students progress through the levels, they encounter increasingly complex techniques and concepts. For example, Level 2 introduces intermediate techniques, Chinese counting, and numeric punching, while Level 3 delves into advanced hand techniques and defense against various attacks. The course continues to build upon previous knowledge through Levels 4-8 ensuring a comprehensive understanding of Wing Chun principles and applications. By Level 9 you have develeoped all of the knoowledge in the Wing Chun System paving the path as a Sifu.

One of the unique aspects of this online certification course is its inclusion of all three traditional Wing Chun forms: Siu Lim Tao, Chum Kiu, and Biu Gee. Additionally, the program covers the 108 wooden dummy techniques, which are practiced in the air, allowing students to develop precision and power without the need for a physical dummy.

The course also emphasizes practical self-defense applications, teaching students how to counter various attacks, including punches, kicks, chokes, and headlocks. This focus on real-world applications ensures that students not only learn the forms but also understand how to apply Wing Chun techniques effectively in self-defense situations.
